Uri, Army on Friday claimed to have foiled yet another infiltration bid along the Line of Control in Uri area of Baramulla district by killing six militants. Officials said with this operation, the total number of “infiltrating militants” killed over the past three days in various areas near LoC has gone up to 13.
An army spokesman said: “Soldiers spotted a group of heavily-armed militants near LoC in Gwalta, Uri this morning. The militants were challenged and they opened fire which was retaliated to, triggering a fierce gunfight in which six militants have been killed so far. The operation is still on.” Army sources said two soldiers of 4 JAKLI were wounded on Friday in Gwalta area when militants fired upon its patrolling party. The army later launched massive searches to flush out the militants, they said.The Army had on Thursday claimed that it foiled four major infiltration bids in Machil and Nowgam sectors in Kupwara district, Uri in Baramulla district and Gurez in Bandipora district during the past 48 hours.
