After militant attacks, security review meet held in Anantnag

Srinagar, June 7: In wake of multiple attacks on government forces and ahead of by-polls, a security review meeting was held at Khanabal area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag to ‘draw out future security strategy’.
The meeting was co-chaired by Chinar Corps Commander, Lt Gen Satish Dua, and DGP K Rajender Kumar while GOC Vajra Division, GOC Dagger Division, GOC Victor Force, GOC Kilo Force, IGP (J&K), ADG CRPF, Joint Dir (IB), DIG CRPF, IG BSF, DIG (South), J&K Police and DIG (North), J&K Police were in attendance.
“During meeting, the deliberations on the overall security situation, the plans to ensure smooth conduct of by poll assembly elections at Anantnag and maintaining robust counter militant grid in the hinterland were discussed.
Special emphasis was given to enhance synergy between agencies so as to ensure a peaceful and incident free election. The aspects of sharing of intelligence, joint planning, situational awareness, flow of information and compatibility of communication equipment were deliberated upon,” a defence official in a statement issued to GNS said.
He said all security agencies expressed their satisfaction on their preparedness for the period and particularly the added security afforded by the infusion of cutting-edge technology into the surveillance infrastructure.
Expressing satisfaction on the synchronization of actions amongst various intelligence agencies, Lt Gen Satish Dua emphasized on maintaining a high level of preparedness to deal with the “spurt in militant initiated incidents and highlighted on the combined effort to effectively counter such incidents”.  The heads of security agencies assured the gathering on the effectiveness of law and order control measures in place.
In conclusion, all agencies conveyed their reassurance to the people of Kashmir that their security will be well looked after so that they can carry on with their daily lives without hindrance, the official said. “A similar assurance was given to the tourists who are visiting the beautiful valley of Kashmir,” he added.
