Ahead of polls, police cracks down on resistance camp; 30 leaders under detention


Srinagar, Ahead of parliamentary polls in Kashmir next month, the J&K government has tightened its noose around Valley’s resistance camp to foil their proposed election boycott campaign. While senior resistance leaders are either lodged in jails or placed under house arrest, the lower-rung leadership is on the run as police have started conducting raids on their residences.

Sources said at least 30 resistance leaders including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik have either been placed under house arrest or are lodged in various police stations.
