Srinagar, April 28: Torchbearer of Independent Kashmir movement and co-founder of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Amanaullah Khan, was on Thursday laid to rest at Eidgah in Gilgit province of Pakistan-administered Kashmir in presence of thousands of people including top leaders from PaK.
The body of Khan, who passed away on Tuesday, was taken to Gilgit in a rally from Rawalpindi which was attended by thousands of his admirers and supporters, a JKLF spokesman said here.
“This caravan consisted of hundreds of vehicles and motor cycles. On reaching Gilgit, the corpse of the deceased leader was taken to EidGah Gilgit where funeral prayers were offered,” he said.
The JKLF co-founder was laid to rest in presence of Chief Minister Hafiz Hafizur Rehman and other dignitaries of Gilgit, Sardar Ateek Khan (Ex- prime minister of PaK), Inayatullah Gilgiti (Chairman Gilgit Baltistan National Alliance), Mushtaq Ahmad (Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami) and others before funeral. “JKLF leaders Haq Nawaz, Aabid Gilgiti, Dr Toqeer, Rafiq Ahmad Dar and Muhammad Saleem Haroon were also present on the occasion,” said the spokesman.
A congregational condolence meeting will be held at JKLF office here in Abi Guzar on April 30Saturday in which tributes will be paid to the deceased leader. “The meeting will start at 10:30 pm and will be concluded after Salat ul Asr,” said the JKLF. Reports meanwhile said that funerals in absentia for late Amanullah Khan were held in different parts of the world by Kashmiri community.
Also, hundreds of people including traders, students, pro-freedom leaders and other activists visited JKLF office at Abi Guzar to offer condolences to JKLF leaders.
