ARMY AT POHRUPET LAUNCHES AFFORESTATION DRIVE ON WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
Langate, June 6: To conserve the ecology and restore vast damaged forests, all Garrisons of Rashtriya Rifles Sector based at Pohrupet in collaboration with District administration, launched an Afforestation drive today. Addressing the local AWAM on the benefits of Afforestation, Brigadier AS Ranade, Sector Commander of Pohrupet based Rashtriya Rifles Sector deliberated that it is our moral obligation to pass the land to our future generation with more natural resources. A total of 400 saplings of coniferous and broad leaves trees were planted during the event at the places which had suffered mass deforestation in the past.
Civil populace also actively participated in the Afforestation drive by planting saplings at various places in Haphruda, Rajwar, Qaziabad and Rafiabad regions. Various civil dignitaries, officials of local civil adminstration along with the team of J&K Police, Sarpanches and Namberdars of the Regions participated in the Afforestation Drive.
Similar plantation drives are being planned by Army on regular basis along with civil adminstration so as to work in unison for healthier living of the populace of the Kashmir Valley. It is pertinent to mention that Pohrupet Sector in last one year has planted more than 13,000 saplings of various types in different places of Mawar, Ramhal, Rajwar, Rafiabad and Qaziabad Regions.
EX-SERVICEMEN, VEER NARI MEET
The Pohrupet based Army Garrison organised an Ex-Servicemen and Veer Nari Meet on 05 Jun 2016 at Langate under the aegis of Chinar Corps which witnessed an emphatic response from the Ex-Servicemen and Veer Naris of the area. Over 51 Ex-Servicemen and Veer Nari from areas of Handwara, Rajwar, Vilgam, Langate and Watargam attended the rally and stood to gain from the event.
The event was attended by Brigadier AS Ranade, Commander Rashtriya Rifles Sector at Pohrupet. The Suvigya System was placed to assist the Ex-Servicemen and Veer Naris in resolving any issues concerning their pension benefits. The other important personalities present during the event were representatives from Police, JAK LI Records and HDFC Bank. This opportunity was utilized by all of the Ex-Servicemen and Veer Naris to resolve their outstanding problems. Medical care was also extended for all the retired and dependent members of the fraternity. All the Ex-Servicemen and Veer Narees expressed their gratitude for the Army for this kind gesture.
Brigadier AS Ranade, addressed the gathering and assured the Ex-Servicemen and Veer Naris of the usual and unstinted support from the Army in ensuring their healthy and peaceful life. He conveyed to them the various schemes and initiatives being undertaken by the Army to uphold the dignity and respect of their brethren who have hung up their uniforms or laid down their lives in the line of duty for maintaining peace in the region.
