UDHAMPUR,L 4: The Rashtriya Rifles Battalion at Kalakote under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Uniform Force Headquarter, Reasi conducted a panel discussion on the theme of “Rural Development – A Key to Progress”, an army spokesman in a statement issued here said.
The seminar was attended by students, youth, and elderly citizens of the society and was presided over by various civil dignitaries and senior Army officers, the spokesman said.
The panelists discussed various issues such as Rural health, Improvement in education system, women empowerment, insurgency and its effect on development. They cited examples from the adjoining states, various regions of the country as well as with their vast experiences and in depth knowledge, the spokesman said.
The aim of this panel discussion on rural development was to spread awareness among the populace of the Kalakote tehsil and adjoining areas. It also aimed at improving the quality of life and economic and sparsely populated areas. The speakers embarked with finding the ways to improve the rural lives with participation of the citizens with an aim towards inclusive development, the spokesman said.
Speakers from the Army embarked upon efforts to be placed on development of areas to generate alternate employment apart from promoting agriculture and boosting infrastructure development. Speakers exhorted upon the youth to take initiative in alternate means of livelihood, which will contribute, to their standards of living. The event proved to be a successful step towards spreading awareness towards development of the rural areas, the spokesman said.
