Army soldier injured in ongoing Drugmulla gunfight
Srinagar, May 21 (GNS): An army soldier was injured in a fierce ongoing gunfight at Drugmulla area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday.
Official sources told news agency GNS that a trooper of Rashtriya Rifles has sustained bullet injuries during an encounter at Check Drugmulla area near Hatmulla.
The injured soldier was immediately evacuated and was shifted to nearby military hospital in Drugmulla for treatment.
Earlier, a senior police officer told said that SOG, army’s 47 RR and CRPF cordoned off the Check Drugmulla area following specific information about the presence of some militants.
The forces, as such, intensified the cordon-and-search operation and fired several motor shells towards the suspected spot, the officer said, adding that the militants hiding inside the house opened fire, triggering off an encounter, the officer had said.
When reports last came in, the gunfight was going on in the area. (GNS)
