Sopore, April 26: As earlier GOI switched bivalent oral polio in place of  trivalent version w.e.f from 25 April all over India, in this regard an inauguration of bivalent oral polio held at Mother and Child hospital Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district under the supervision of Chief medical officer Baramulla Bashir Ahmed Chalkoo, Deputy CMO, DIO, branch medical officer Sopore Dr Sameer Ahmed and other concerns were also present on the occasion.

During the occasion more than hundred children were immunized. Meanwhile Branch Medical officer Sopore Dr Samir said that trivalent  has switched in a globally synchronized manner. He said that trivalent OPV contains live and weekend versions of all 3 types (1,2,and 3) of wild polio which the bivalent contains type 1 and 3.

He said that government of India has already introduced injectable inactivated polio vaccine immunization programme along with oral polio vaccine (OPV).

He further  said that cut off date was 24 April and now it has been banned in whole India.
