JAMMU, With differences surfacing between the ruling coalition partners over Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s remarks she made yesterday on those seeking abrogation of Article 370, the State Government Tuesday morning cancelled the Cabinet meeting scheduled in the afternoon.
Sources told kNS that the State Cabinet was scheduled to meet at 3 PM in the civil secretariat to take a call on the proposed legislations to be taken up in the State legislature during the ongoing Budget session.
However, the meeting was put off following a standoff between PDP and BJP over the CM’s remarks in the Assembly.
Mehbooba had on Monday said that nothing can be more anti-national than talking about abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special position that is guaranteed by Article 370.
The BJP today demanded that CM’s remarks should be expunged from records of the House.
Senior officials said the Cabinet was scheduled to take a final call on introduction of 8-9 legislations submitted by different departments.
“It is necessary to seek Cabinet approval for Government Bills,” they said, adding “No new date has been fixed for convening the meeting.”
