Shapion: A day long conference on Sufism was held in South Kashmir district of Shapion. The conference was organized by J&K Youth Development Forum, and people from all parts of the district attended the seminar.
“Sufism is concerned with humanitarian cause and Sufis serve society with passion sans discrimination. The concept of God, love for God and service to humanity are three components of Sufism”, said Islamic scholar Abdul Ahad Khan, while addressing the conference on “Role of Sufism for Peace ,Brotherhood and tolerance” organised by the J&K Youth Development Forum, a local NGO.
Khan Sahab emphasised on the need to change the definition of philosophy and on having a comparative study of Vedanta and Sufism. He also appealed J&K Youth Development Forum to organize such conferences in every school of Kashmir valley for revival of Sufism and for the spread of the message of Sufism .
“The topic of the conference is very relevant in today’s time as we need a lot of mutual tolerance today, an idea that was propagated and practised by Sufis in the past”, he added.
Mohammad Yousf Rather a local Jamia Masjid Imam said that the seminar will pave a way for peace, brotherhood and mutual understanding.
He explained that Sufis served humanity without any rewards and sans discrimination, and today we need the same character and conduct in the people for everyone to come together”, he added.
On the occasion Dr Sajid Ahmad, Dr Bilal Ahmad, Trade Leader Mohd Youns, Sarpanchs, Journalists, Ulema’s, Sufi Scholars, students, poets and writers of the district were present. During the conference J&K Youth Development Forum distributed mementos among the best speakers and students, Farooq Ganderbali also addressed the conference and President J&K Youth Development Forum Shaheryar Majid Dar proposed the vote of thanks and promised that the forum will organize such conferences in every important places of the valley.
