Congress stages protest against PDP-BJP Govt on Sect reopening day
Srinagar, May 9 (GNS): State unit of Congress today took a protest rally party headquarters here in an attempt to ‘gherao’ Civil Secretariat and against the policies of PDP-BJP coalition government.
According to GNS, the protest march was led by JKPCC chief GA Mir and attended by hundreds of party leaders and workers. As the protesters tried to march towards Civil Secretariat, they were intercepted by police at MA Road. Subsequently, the protestors also staged a massive sit in Dharna at the Middle of the road.
On the occasion, the JKPCC Chief while addressing the protestors asked Mehbooba Mufti to explain which decision of her is correct either going with the BJP or the delay in Govt Formation. He said that the delay in Government formation by her (Mehbooba Mufti) was a move to “hoodwink the people again on the so called agenda of alliance by enacting different stories”.
“First they (PDP) secured votes to stop BJP & RSS and now the same BJP & RSS is being imposed by PDP on the people who have voted for them,” he said, and alleged that PDP betrayed voters of Kashmir Valley. He blamed PDP-BJP Coalition for failing to address urges and aspirations of the people.
On this occasion, the PCC Chief made it clear that Congress Party won’t allow anyone to dilute the special status of the State and opposed the proposal of setting up of Sainik Colony. Mir said Mehbooba Mufti has not even able to get 20% of relief package released by the Centre Govt out of 44000 crores which the previous Congress-NC Coalition had demanded keeping in view all aspects of the damages caused due to flood, he said.
While taking a dig at hasty and faulty implementation of Food Security Act in the State accused Coalition Government for implementing the Act in haste without adequate ground work and in the absence of discussions and debate in the State legislature over the implications of its implementation in the State. He said since PDP BJP has taken over, the entire ration distribution system has been derailed and people are deprived of ration facilities. (GNS)
