Srinagar, Suspected militants on Monday evening fired towards the house of a police officer in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, police said.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (South Kashmir) S P Pani said: “Militants appeared at Dairoo village and fired towards the house of an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI). However, no one was injured in the firing. The militants fled after carrying out the attack. We have cordoned the area and launched manhunt to trace the attackers.”Police sources said when the attack took place, the ASI was not present in the house. “Reinforcements have rushed to the spot and investigations are on,” they added. Pertinently, suspected militants had barged into the residence of a Police officer of ASI-rank at Hufroo village in central Kashmir’s Budgam district last week and had set the car of his kin ablaze. Few weeks back, a similar incident was reported in south Kashmir’s Shopian area where suspected militants had barged into the house of a senior police officer and allegedly ransacked it.
