Srinagar, Upping the ante at J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, National Conference working president Omar Abdullah on Monday said the photograph of a youth tied to an Army jeep is one of the defining images of how much Mehbooba Mufti has been willing to surrender to cling to the CM’s chair.
A youth, Farooq Ahmad Dar, was tied to the bonnet of an Army jeep to escape heavy stone pelting in Budgam on this day last year, when massive clashes erupted between protestors and security forces during bypolls to Srinagar Parliamentary constituency.
Mr Abdullah also hit out at BJP, saying ‘and to think that her (Mehbooba’s) colleagues are happily selling tee shirts to celebrate this shameful occurrence’.
“This photograph of Farooq Dar is one of the defining images of how much @MehboobaMufti has been willing to surrender to cling to the CM’s chair,” the former chief minister tweeted.
The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) had asked the state government to pay compensation of Rs 10 lakh.
