Delay in Constitution of Law Commission and revival of SHRC is unfortunate: Tarigami

Srinagar June 14: CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has highlighted the need for setting up Law Commission in the State to undertake comprehensive review of the legal system and remove obsolete and outdated laws.
Speaking on the grants of Law and Justice Department in the Legislative Assembly today, he called for empowering the people at grass route level. He asked the government to come up with the reasons for delay in strengthening of Dehi Adalats on the pattern of Gram Nayalyas and creation/upgradation of judicial infrastructure across the State.
The CPI (M) leader said that the State continues to witness sporadic incidents of human rights violations, it was necessary to probe such occurrences to stem the rot from the system. He urged upon the government to reconstitute the State Human Rights Commission adding that such institutions need to be strengthened to provide transparent and improved governance to the people of the State.
