Srinagar, Appealing people not to panic, the Srinagar district administration on Sunday said that most of the fish are not dead suggesting ‘prima facie’ the absence of a poisonous substance.
The officials stated that they have taken water samples as well as the samples of fish.
“We have taken water samples as well as the samples of fish. Most of the fish washed up ashore are not dead suggesting that the oxygen content of the river water is low. Technical team visited various spots & suggest further tests which will be done immediately,” said Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Syed Abid Rashid.
Requesting the public not to panic, he said: “The administration is seized of the matter and working hard to ensure that no untoward incidents occur.”
