Forces launches cordon in Pulwama following some gunshots

Srinagar, April 21: Government forces on Thursday afternoon cordoned off a village in Pulwama district of south Kashmir.

A police officer told Kashmir Glory that a joint team of army’s 55 RR, SOG and CRPF launched cordon-and-search operation following some gunshots at Malwari area of Newa in the southern district.

Soon after the news about the cordon spread in the area, scores of youth took to streets and shouted pro-freedom slogans. The police and paramilitary CRPF troopers who were deployed in the area chased the youth, however, they hurled stones upon the forces resulted in clashes.

Meanwhile, amid clashes, the cordon in the area is still going on when reports last came in.
