Former players resolve to help promote sports


JAMMU, August 02: Former international and national players, mostly from the game of Handball have expressed their willingness and resolved to help promote sports in Jammu and Kashmir.
These players were attending an interaction which was organised by newly formed Arun Sharma Sports and Social Welfare Trust to discuss sports scenario in the Union Territory.
On the outset of the interaction, member trustee, Ashutosh Sharma explained about the aims and objectives of the Trust which has been formed in the celebrity India Handball coach, Lt. Arun Kumar Sharma, who rose to the level of Sports Officer in the J&K Sports Council (JKSC).
Speaking to the gathering, international Handball players, Dheeraj Nagpal, Akshay Khajuria, Dheeraj Pathania and Vikas Sharma expressed their view point and resolved to work for the development of the game of Handball by way of establishing more and more training centres.
Manager with J&K Bank and former National Football player, Gurmeet Singh told the players that desired results could be achieved by working collectively in right direction. He expressed happiness over sportspersons getting united for the common cause.
Earlier, while giving their suggestions, players asked for identifying suitable venues to be developed as future training centres within and outside Jammu city.
Prominent among those former international and national handball players present were Dheeraj Nagpal, Akshay Khajuria, Dheeraj Pathania, Vikas Sharma (Lecturer), Surinder Kumar, Vikas Nanda, Vivek Sharma, Om Parkash, Kartar Dogra, Bachan Dogra, Kapil Sagotra, Gourav Sharma (NIS) and Gurmeet Singh.
