riceSrinagar, April 30 (GNS): A Fair Price (FP) Shop Dealer of CAPD department was caught red-handedly smuggling rice by people in Kanthama area of Beerwah in Budgam district for selling it in black market.

Residents of Kanthama told Srinagar-based news agency that the local FP shop dealer, Abdul Rashid Bhat, son of Assadullah Bhat, was last evening at around 7:15 caught by them when he was smuggling government rice in a sumo vehicle for selling it in black market at higher rates.

“The dealer is a known black marketer. On the one side, we crave for rice and sugar and on the other side these black sheep are doing black marketing,” the locals said. They alleged that when Assistant Director CAPD of Budgam was informed about the same he didn’t take any action and paid no heed.

The residents said that the dealer in the past has also been involved in smuggling and black-marketing but no action so far has been taken against him. Despite repeated attempts, the CAPD Assistant Director of Budgam could not be contacted despite repeated attempts. (GNS)
