Geelani, Mirwaiz, Malik barred from travelling to New Delhi, detained

SRINAGAR, The government on Saturday barred Kashmir’s joint separatist leadership comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik from travelling to New Delhi by detaining them, even as strict restrictions on movement of people remained in force for the second consecutive day in areas falling under six police stations in Srinagar.

A police official said that chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was placed under house arrest last night, while JKLF chief Muhammad Yasin Malik was arrested from his Maisuma residence around midnight and shifted to Central Jail Srinagar.
