Srinagar, Authorities on Sunday disallowed a book release function at the residence of chairman, Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani’s Srinagar residence by blocking the entry points with concertina wires.
Geelani was supposed to release his book “Iqbal-Rohi Deen Ka Shanasa” on Dr Sir Muhammad Iqbal.
According to a Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar, police sealed the Hyderpora residence of Geelani to foil the release of the book.
“The people present in Jamia Masjid Hyderpora protested against unwarranted restrictions. We also strongly criticize the unjustified police action,” said Akbar.
“Geelani was to release the third volume of the book written by him. We had invited intellectuals, journalists, poets and senior citizens to the event which was to be held within the four walls of Geelani’s house.
