Governor’s message on International Literacy Day


SRINAGAR: Governor Satya Pal Malik has greeted people on the occasion of the International Literacy Day, observed every year on 8th of September.

In a message, Governor said that this Day provides us an opportunity to reinvigorate our efforts in continuously raising standards of education, providing learning opportunities to people through out their lives and introspect on challenges that persist in our way to achieve 100 % literacy rate.

Governor observed that the theme for this year, ‘Literacy and Multilingualism’ exhorts all of us to devote enhanced focus in adopting linguistic diversity for literacy development with a purpose not only to combat illiteracy but also to promote literacy as a tool that could empower individuals as well as whole communities.

He has urged the educated people to highlight the role of education in understanding one’s rights and privileges and in improving quality of life.
