Srinagar, Government of India (GoI) has sanctioned Rs 23 crore for Pashmina industry to grow and for promotion of high breed goats in Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir.
Minister for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Abdul Ghani Kohli at the end of week-long tour to Leh and Kargil districts in Ladakh region, said that Rs 21 crore mega Project of Department of Industries and Commerce has also been sanctioned by Central Government which would help Pashmina industry to grow.
Besides, he said, Rs 2 crore have been released to Sheep Husbandry by GoI for promoting high breed Pashmina goats in the region.
An official spokesman said here today that Kohli, during his tour, also visited Kargil, Diskit, Shey, Turtuk, Drass, Khalsi, Nubra and Hunder villages.
During the extensive tour, the Minister took stock of various developmental works under execution in Animal, Sheep and Fisheries sectors in the twin district of Leh and Kargil.
