Handwara, April 21: Students of Degree college Handwara on Thursday staged a protest march and later reached slain Nayeem Ahmad’s house in Herpora Handwara in a procession.
Reports reaching here said that hundreds of students today afternoon took out a protest march against the recent innocent killings. The protesting students later reached Nayeem’s house where they offered fateh in favour of the slain.
As the protesting students reached near the main chowk in the town while they were heading towards Nayeem’s house, the shopkeepers down their shutters spontaneously.
Pertinently, violent protests broke out in several parts of Kupwara and Handwara last over the alleged molestation of a girl by an army soldier on April 12. The girl, however, has denied that she was molested.
Three persons including a woman were killed in firing by forces on protesters on Tuesday while two more persons were killed in separate forces action against protesters on Wednesday at Drugmulla and on Friday at Nathnusa.
