Says NIT non local students are our guests, urges all to concentrate on studies
Srinagar, April 6 (GNS): Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, on Wednesdayexpressed his happiness over the indifference of people of Jammu and Kashmir to resumption of PDP-BJP government in the state.
After spending two months in New Delhi where he recuperating following his deteriorating health condition, Geelani arrived from New Delhi to his Hyderpora residence on Wednesday afternoon with supporters welcoming him with pro-Geelani and pro-Pakistan slogans.
Amid slogans slogans like Aaya aaya Sher Aaya, Hum Pakistani Hai Pakistan Hamara Hai, Pakistan Zindabad, hurriyat (G) activists also broke the police cordon at the entrance to lane connecting Geelani’s residence paving way for everyone to enter the conglomerate’s office where he addressed a press conference.
“While addressing the large gathering of people, Geelani appealed the nation to show steadfastness and unity so that we will be able to achieve the freedom from India’s brutal occupation”.
Geelani said,”I am happy to see that people across the Jammu and Kashmir showing neither happiness nor any kind of interest about new government formation led by Mehbooba Mufti instead the people continue showing incredible affiliation with the “Martyrs”. The people of Kashmir showed their anger, anguish against India by remaining far-away from celebrations.”
Geelani, on the occasion, criticized both Indian as well as state administration over harassment of Kashmiri students studying in the Valley as well as in various Indian states.
While showing his dismay over the NIT Srinagar incident, Geelani stressed upon the students to concentrate on their studies. “Non local students are our guests and we always welcomed them here but they also need to go through the gravity of internationally recognized disputed nature of Jammu and Kashmir, so raising Indian flags within or outside the premises only disturbs academic and professional environment”.
Geelani said Kashmiri students every now and then are targeted outside the valley on the behest of RSS and other communal forces and this practice should be stopped else it will have serious consequences on ground.
He said it is part of Kashmiris’ culture and civilisation that they don’t harm Indian students studying in Valley.
He said the threats to Muslims by Shiv Sena and RSS from Mumbai was a common thing but now “such intimidations are issued from Srinagar”.
“Time has come for people of all religions and regions of Jammu and Kashmir to unite against Indian illegal occupation and RSS which is bent to impose its agenda in the State,” Hurriyat (G) chairman said.
Geelani lambasted the pro-Indian parties and said that they are responsible for all miseries which we are facing since 1931. “It was sheikh Abdullah who converted Muslim Conference into National Conference which was the starter of our slavery in actual terms”.
“We are not in favour of any kind of bloodshed and believe in political solution under the charters of United Nations. But Indian stubborn approach will lead this entire region in general and Jammu Kashmir in particular to destruction”, Geelani said.
While terming the land given to Army in Ladakh as well-planned conspiracy, Geelani said, “Providing land to army clearly indicates that Army has been given a chance to make their occupation strong in Kashmir.”
Geelani said that the forces are building concrete buildings in Kashmir, which shows that India want to settle them permanently in Kashmir.
“Geelani also castigated the state administration and police for cordoned Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Headquarter Hyderpora before his arrival and arresting party activists and also harassing media personnel to prevent them to cover the event”. (GNS)
