Hundreds of aspirants left disappointed

Srinagar, May 19: Hundreds of youth were left disappointed due to army’s announcement that aspirants with less than 50% percent in 10th class won’t be recruited even as army had specifically mentioned in advertisements that minimum qualification was only 45% for various posts.

Pertinently, the three days rally of recruitment in Territorial Army commenced at Panzgam garrison for aspirants of Kupwara, Kralpora, Tregam, Machal, Sogam, Lalpura and Drugmulla Tehsils for whom physical tests were conducted on Thursday.

For 12th class pass, no percentage was stipulated in the advertisement notice. However as huge rush of jobless youths swarmed the venue, army authorities announced that youth with 50% will be recruited, the angry aspirants said.

Hundreds of aspirants left the venue in utter dejection as soon as the announcement was made, reports quoting eyewitnesses said. Some of them also staged protest, accusing the concerned authorities of backpedal on advertisement and “playing with their sentiments, the aspirants claimed.

Meanwhile, the concerned official could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
