According to the joint resistance leadership programme Mirwaiz was to jointly lead a peaceful sit-in protest in Srinagar on Monday, but he was put under house arrest by the authorities on Sunday evening.

A statement of the amalgam said that Hurriyat (m) media advisor Shahid-ul-Islam was also put under house arrest while its leader, Hilal Ahmad war was arrested and lodged in Maisuma police station.

Denouncing the governments repression, the Hurriyat stated that on one hand the Kashmiri people are subjected to worst form of “state terrorism”, and on the other, restrictions and bans are imposed on the voices raised against such oppression and injustices.
