Srinagar, In an endeavour to promote the spirit of Football among youths of Kashmir Valley, the “ Peace Football Cup” was inaugurated today by the Jammu and Kashmir Youth Development Forum (JKYDF) in an exhilarating opening ceremony at Shaheed Ghulam Hassan Police stadium Shairpatheri Ganderbal.Farooq Ganderbali Petron JKYDF presided over the opening Ceremony of the tournament. JKYDF President Dr. Bilal Ahmad Mir said the Football cup is being organized in collaboration with J&K Police to gratefully acknowledge the new talent of Kashmir and encourage their passion towards Football.
“The competition is first of its kind as the winning team will be rewarded a cash prize of rupees 20 thousand and runner up of final Match will receive a cash prize of 10 thousand rupees the President said while addressing the young and energetic Footballers. He also appreciated the joint efforts of JKYDF and JKP for providing a nurturing platform to the young Football players of Kashmir to acknowledge their talent and persistence in sports.
The inaugural match was played between Sadam Tigers and Gousiya Football Club in which team Sadam tigers won the match by 4-3 Goals.
“The objective of this tournament is to strengthen the bond of friendship and brotherhood between J and K Police and people of Valley especially youth and channelize their energies for development and peace . Also it endeavours to encourage the sportsmanship among them so that youth of valley can constructively channelize their potential in sports activities and bring laurels to their State,” the JKYDF President said the closing ceremony of the event would be held on November 20 and Special Director General of Police Dr S.P Ved likely will be the chief guest on that day.
