Srinagar, May 30: (GNS) A prominent Jammu-based journalist has been allegedly receiving life threats over filing of a news report over the alleged intervention of district administration into the religious matters of the people in frontier district of Mendhar.
Mohammad Shafiq Nazki popular in the social circles as M S Nazki working with Srinagar-based news agency Global News Service (GNS) has received the threats by a section of people over a news report titled, “Mendhar admin at loggerheads with people over nomination of Imam”. The news report was drafted by this news agency on Friday last.
The journalist has alleged the National Conference workers and other ‘mischievous elements’ from the area for harassment over the report. “These people have time and time again tried to stop me from reporting the events from the region, he said while adding that although I’ve been on their radar for a long time now but they can’t subdue me from reporting the factual things.”
Appealing the people to avoid resorting to any such tactics, Nazki said that, “As a journalist want to reiterate that I’ve no personal grudges or malice towards anyone. It is my duty to report the factual things and I am doing just what is the demand of my profession.
These people should refrain from such tactics,” Nazki added.
