Kashmir militant ‘slips to death’, two others held in Poonch
Poonch, May 16 (GNS): A militant from north Kashmir’s Baramulla on Monday slipped to death while two of his associates were arrested by Government forces in Poonch district of Jammu Division.
A police official told GNS that Baramulla police passed on the information about the presence of three militants hailing from Kashmir region.
Accordingly, the officer said, the SOG and Special army team launched an operation in Chaparian forest area in Sabzian sector and noticed movement of three persons. As they were challenged to stop, the three persons ran away and the forces started to chase these persons, the sources said.
“However one of the three militants namely Bilal Ahmad Bhat son of Sanaullah Bhat, resident of Batapora Tangmarg, Baramulla slipped down and fell into a Nallah leading to his death,” the officer said, adding two other militants were arrested and are currently in the custody of SOG.
He identified the two more arrested persons as Adil Ahmed Bhat son of Ghulam Hassan Bhat and Mursaleen Rashid son of Abdul Rashid Malla of Tral. “Mursaleen’s father is a head constable in police department”.
“The trio was trying to ex-filtrate to the other side of Kashmir before being intercepted by the joint team of army and police, the officer said.
The slain militant was involved in the killing of three Lashkar-i-Islam militants in north Kashmir’s Nihalpora Pattan area in September 14, last year, the police officer claimed. (GNS)
