Kashmir movement has transferred to fourth generation: Mirwaiz

Srinagar, Stating that Kashmir movement has been transferred to fourth generation, Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M) and Head of Muthida Majlis-e-Ulema Mirwaiz Dr Molvi Muhammad Umar Farooq on Tuesday asked Government of India to shun its policy of “delay and obduracy” towards the resolution of Kashmir issue and come up with positive initiatives to address this issue “The un-settled Kashmir issue was the main cause of strained relationship between India and Pakistan. Violence and the loss of precious lives in this region cannot be a matter to rejoice for any person with a slightest sense of humanity,” Mirwaiz said addressing a public gathering after a religious sermon at the shrine of Dastegeer Sahib (RA) at Saraibala here.

“Unless a just and reasonable solution to this vexed issue is found there does not seem to be any letup in the current turbulent situation. Government of India should shun its policy of delay and obduracy towards the resolution of Kashmir issue and come up with positive initiatives to address this issue,” he said.

“The tactics of use of force, suppression and killing people is not going to bring any change on the ground in Kashmir because the resistance movement of Kashmir has strong historical political and ethical foundation and from 1947 now the movement has transferred to the fourth generation of Kashmiris, which in reaction to the oppressive policies of the Government of India, has taken to the streets that has given rise to a dangerous situation,” he said.

Elaborating, he said “it is because of the Kashmir issue, blood is splitting and precious lives are being lost in the entire region which is extremely sorrowful.” However, he added, that the situation can be altered if a solution to Kashmir Issue in accordance with the wishes of the people of Kashmir is found.

Mirwaiz while referring to the “pro-India” political parties of Jammu and Kashmir said, “these parties should also realize that the talk of peace and development would remain meaningless unless there is not a favourable atmosphere for the same.”

“Peace cannot be created in vacuum. These people should think above the narrow vested interest of power and play their role in an honorable solution of Kashmir Issue in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of the people of Kashmir because without that the dream of peace and prosperity in the region is going to remain elusive,” he said.

Earlier in his religious sermon, Mirwaiz while throwing light on the blessings of the fasting month of Ramazan said, that this month brings innumerable, spiritual and medical benefits for the believers.

He said that this month teaches of God-fearing, good deeds and help to others while refraining from evil deeds. He said that the fasting for the sake of Allah teaches us to follow the commands of Allah in all our doings and dealings and thus trains us to become Muslims in the true sense.

“The issues being faced by Muslim Ummah cannot go by mere lip-service but everybody of us has to get practically involved in individual character building because an exemplary character of a true Muslim alone can bring about healthy changes at the collective level and attract others towards Islam,” he said.

At the conclusion of the programme, a procession led by Mirwaiz was taken out from the shrine to the HSHS chowk in which a large number of people participated raising pro-freedom and pro-Islam slogans;
