Lolab encounter: Sogam people asked not to venture outside
Kupwara, June 20: People of Sogam on Monday evening were asked not to venture out of their homes in wake of the encounter in the north Kashmir area.
The residents of the area told news agency GNS that an announcement in Markazi Jami Masjid in Sogam was made on the directions of police at around 8:00 pm, asking people not to venture outside for offering Taravi prayers even during Fajr (dawn) prayers on Tuesday.
A police officer of the concerned police station said that step has been taken as a precautionary measure.
“There is intermittent firing going on in the area and people have been asked not to venture out only for their safety,” he added.
Earlier, at 7:00 pm, top LeT militant said to be Abu Ukasha alias Hanzullah was arrested by police at Sogam market while he was making purchasing presumably for Iffitar.
