Srinagar, Describing Muhammad Maqbool Bhat as corner stone of ongoing resistance movement, the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik today said, “his struggle and sacrifices represent every oppressed and subjugated human.”
“Father of Kashmiri nation Muhammad Maqbool Bhat is the corner stone of our resistance against illegal control and symbol of freedom and liberty. Yasin Malik said.
“He was an ideologue, a warrior, a leader and an intellectual. He perused his dream, strived for it and sacrificed his life for it. His struggle and martyrdom is a glorious chapter of our history that will always guide us through the tough journey of freedom struggle,” a spokesman of the Front, in a statement today, quoted Malik as saying while leading a congregational prayers and Quran Khawani held at JKLF headquarters here today.
Announcing various programs to be held during ‘Martyrs’ week, Malik said, “Various protest programs will be held across the globe on the occasion of Shaheed Muhammad Maqbool Butt’s 33rd martyrdom day and Kashmiris living throughout the world will observe this day as a national day.”
“In Jammu Kashmir, programs announced by the joint resistance leadership will be followed in letter and spirit while protest marches and sit-in will be held across the major cities of the world on the occasion. JKLF leaders and activists will hold protests in Islamabad Pakistan, Lahore, Karachi and other cities of Pakistan while programs will also be held across Europe, UK, USA, Canada, Germany, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and other parts of Middle East,” the statement said.
“JKLF will also hold demonstration across Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK) on 11th February,” he said.
“Father of nation Muhammad Maqbool Bhat and following his foot prints son of Kashmir Muhammad Afzal Guru laid down their today for the betterment of our tomorrow and thus have made us debtors and it is now our duty to safeguard these sacred sacrifices and make efforts to take the sacred mission of these martyrs to its desired goal. Indian state not only hanged Maqbool sahib and Muhammad Afzal Guru but have denied these martyrs even a chance of proper burial. This is actually a scar on the conscience of international community which has failed to safeguard the very basic human rights of Kashmiris,” Malik said.
