Srinagar, April 2 (GNS): Police on Saturday claimed to have fished out the body of a 4-year-old boy from a stream in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district ten days after he went missing.
A police official told news agency GNS that today afternoon a police team immediately rushed towards a stream near Saint Luke’s Convent School following an information about the unknown body lying there.
The police soon after reached the spot fished out body from the stream and later identified him as Ayaan Hamid, son of Abdul Hamid Shah of Dooru, the official said.
Ayaan had gone missing from his relatives’ place at Pehroo village of the district on March 22.
The police official said that initial investigations revealed that there were no injury marks on his body and might have died due to drowning.
After conducting all legal formalities, police handed over the body of the deceased to his parents for last rites, he said.
Meanwhile, a pall of gloom descended at native village of the boy when his body reached there today late in the afternoon
Earlier, police used divers to search for the boy in local stream and also pressed sniffer dogs into service to trace the boy following massive protests and shutdown in the area. (GNS)
