Srinagar, After submitting her papers as Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti said muscular policy cannot run Jammu and Kashmir. She had a brief interaction with the media at her residence.Ms Mufti said the coalition was crafted with the largest party with a huge mandate only after assessing the requirements of the state. She said it was not liked by people but the ideas, for which it was made, were bigger. These included talks with Pakistan, ceasefire, reconciliation, confidence-building measures.
In last three-four years, Ms Mufti said her government protected Article 370 and stood strong in defence against the abrogation of 35 (A). She said cases against 11000 youth were withdrawn. She said the Prime Minister visited Pakistan for talks but these could not move ahead. Even ceasefire was not positively responded.
Ms Mufti said her government retained the territorial integrity of the state and addressed the insecurity of the minority in a case of cow vigilantism and in Rasana.
Without explaining anything about the Agenda of Alliance, Ms Mufti sounded confident that her party did address the agenda it had.
She said she is not shocked by the decision of the BJP pulling out of the alliance. “We had not done it for power and had we done that it, there were numbers with NC and Congress but we did it for some objective,” she said.
The press meeting was quite a chaos as there were a lot of people keen to listen. Most of her cabinet was with her at the time of press conference.
