Ever since counter-terror agency, National Investigation Agency (NIA) started its crackdown on Kashmiri separatists and their sympathisers in 2017, the incidents of stone-throwing have reduced in Jammu and Kashmir. The role of the NIA in Jammu and Kashmir, where incidents of stone-throwing have come down, is appreciable. India has taken a pledge to root out extremism and terrorism from the country and the role of NIA in curbing the activities of the anti-national elements is very important.
India will win over naxalism, terrorism and extremism and finish off terror funding sources. As sources of fake currency and terror funding have been curbed to a great extent by the NIA, it has been a big blow to terrorism. NIA is doing a great job in Kashmir as its name sends fear down the spine of those indulging in terror funding.
Due to the scientific probe by the NIA there is an approximately 95 per cent conviction rate and the anti-terror agency had has established itself as a credible investigating agency. From Altaf Shah alias Altaf Fantosh, son-in-law of Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Geelani to notorious businessman Zahoor Watali and senior separatist leader Shabir Shah, the NIA has been successful in hitting the separatist and terror funding network in Kashmir hard.
Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Taiba chief, Hafiz Saeed, and Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin are among the 12 people chargesheeted by the NIA in connection with a case of funding of terror activities in Jammu and Kashmir. Aftab Ahmad Shah@ Shahid-ul-Islam, media advisor and strategist of the Mirwaiz Umar Farooq led Hurriyat Conference, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, chairman of National Front, which is a constituent of the Hurriyat, Farooq Ahmad Dar alias Bitta Karate, chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (R), which is also a constituent of the Hurriyat (Geelani faction), Mohammad Akbar Khanday alias Ayaz Akbar, spokesman of Hurriyat (Geelani faction), *Raja Mehrajuddin Kalwal, office-bearer of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat and a fund-raiser for the Hurriyat, and Bashir Ahmad Bhat alias Peer Saifullah, personal assistant of Geelani as well as secretary of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, were some of the main separatist leaders, who were provoking Kashmiri youngsters to indulge in stone pelting.
All of them have been sent behind the bars by the NIA. Now the time is not far when Hafiz Sayeed and Salah-ud-Din will be brought to the book by law enforcing agencies of India and that day terror will be eradicated not only from Kashmir fully, but across the country, terrorists and their sympathisers will shiver. Last month Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that his government would break the backbone of terror in Kashmir and will give befitting response to every terrorist. And just a month later Modi showed his intent when Indian Air Force strikes deep inside Pakistan on terror infrastructure showed the world what India means.
