Police T20 Cricket Championship inaugurated in Ganderbal; SP XI take on DC XI in inaugural match


Ganderbal, The Jammu and Kashmir Police, district Ganderbal under its civic action programme held the inaugural ceremony of the Police T20 Cricket Championship at Madr-e-Meharbaan Sports Stadium here today.

The championship was inaugurated by the District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal, Dr Piyush Singla (IAS). SSP Ganderbal Fayaz Ahmad Lone KPS , ASP Fayaz Hussain, Principal Govt College of Physical Education, Dr. Hartej Singh, Commandant 118 Bn CRPF, PK Sahu, PDP leader Bashir Ahmad Mir, District President PDP Farooq Ganderbali, AIP Patron, Sheikh Saloora, MS Shaheen, Peer Yousuf, all ranks of district Police authorities Ganderbal, President GSA, Sheikh Mohd Shafi, veteran sports personalities and other guests from district civil and police administration attended the inaugural ceremony.
On this occasion, an exhibition cum inaugural T20 Cricket match was played between the Superintendent of Police XI (SP XI) and Deputy Commissioner XI (DC XI) in which DC XI beat SP XI by 4 wkts.

32 teams from across the district are participating in this T20 Cricket Championship being organised by The Jammu and Kashmir Police, district Ganderbal.

Pertinently, the sports festival being organised by the District Police Ganderbal, in which 7 sports disciplines viz Football, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Tug of War, Karate, SQAY martial arts and Badminton were taken up, has reached its final stage and the Concluding ceremony is scheduled to be held on Nov 15.
