Post-Friday clashes in Sopore

Protests erupted in north kashmir’s sopore town after friday prayers against Sainik colonies and separate Pandit townships in Kashmir. The call for protests was jointly given by Hurriyat Conference (G), JKLF and Hurriyat Conference (M).
Eyewitnesses told that the youths were raising pro-Islam and pro-Azadi slogans and denouncing the “plans of the government regarding proposed colonies for Pandits and Sainiks at main chowk sopore after friday prayers.
As the clashes intensified, the shopkeepers closed down their shops and traffic was also affected. Police summoned additional security personnel in the area while the clashes were continued till last reports reach. No one was reported to be injured.
