Prices of fruits and vegetables skyrocketing during Ramazan in Sopore

Sopore, June 09: In disregard to government issued rate list, many vegetable and fruit dealers in north kashmir’s sopore town are selling goods at exorbitant prices.
We have no option than to buy the vegetables at exorbitant rates. What can we do as the vendors refuse to sell them at CAPD approved rates,” Shiekh Mohammad, a local resident of sopore town said.
Another resident said that fruits and vegetable rates are soaring during the holy month of Ramazan in sopore town.
Shahid , A resident of Model Town Sopore complained that it’s a routine of every Ramzan. “In this holy month everyone tries to fast and feed better to their family, and the fruit dealers are taking this advantage due to which they are selling at exorbitant prices.
The CAPD rate list fixes price of a kg of cauliflower at Rs 16, cabbage Rs 16, carrot Rs 20, turnip Rs 15, spinach Rs 25 per and Kashmiri Saag Rs 25, tomato Rs 25, potatoes Rs 22.
According to KD Correspondent after survey in the town said that the vegetables are being sold at exorbitant prices in total disregard to the government issued rate list.
When Confirmed from Executive Officer of Muncipal Council Sopore Gh Rasool Shah, said that our team is conducting market checking of vendors and vegetable dealers and whosoever will found selling commodities at higher rates will be fined.
Meanwhile when contacted SDM Sopore Bashir Ahmed said that we will take action against those dealers who are selling commodities at higher rates.
