Srinagar, April 4: Kashmir Valley on Monday experienced moderate rains intermittently while an avalanche warning has been issued in wake of the inclement weather in the region.
As already predicted by the Meteorological Department, the rains continued in Valley intermittently, which increased the prevailing chill. The ongoing spell of rain started three days ago and is expected to continue for two more days.
Given forecast of inclement weather, an avalanche warning was today issued for central Kashmir’s Ganderbal and Kargil districts by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir. According to the Divisional Administration, Kashmir, the avalanche warning exists for avalanche prone areas above 3500 meters altitude of Ganderbal and Kargil districts from 04 April to 5 April, 2016.
“People of these areas have been advised not to venture in the avalanche prone areas,” an official spokesman said here.
