Security beefed up in Srinagar after cop killings
Srinagar, May 24 (GNS): In wake of killings of three cops by militants, the security was beefed up across the Srinagar city by police and paramilitary forces.
According to GNS correspondent, hundreds of police and CRPF men were deployed across the city including civil lines and downtown areas. The forces personal had erected barricades and check posts several locations and junctions of the city.
Witnesses said the forces were thoroughly conducting frisking of passenger vehicles and commuters. The bikers and other two-wheelers were also being thoroughly checked. The forces personal were seen questioning and checking identity cards of the passengers.
Though the situation in the city remained peaceful so far today, but the tension was visible.
Pertinently, three cops including an ASI were killed by militants in two strikes at Zadibal and Tengpora areas of the city. The attacks were claimed by Hizbul Mujahideen but police said they were investigating the claim. (GNS)
