Shopian army firing: DC Shopian asks witnesses to record statements


Shapion, District magistrate Shopian on Monday asked the witnesses to record their statements into Ganowpora firing incident that left two youth dead and another critically wounded on Saturday.

“In order to ascertain the facts of January 27 firing incident at Ganowpora, all interested persons can record their statements within a week’s time from January 30, 2018,” said the District Magistrate Shopian.“The statements can be recorded in the office of District Magistrate Shopian,” he said.

Two youth – Javed Ahmad Bhat and Suhail Javid Lone – were killed after army opened fire on protesters in Ganowpora village.

The Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered a magisterial probe into the killings while the police has filed a murder case against the army.
