Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20: J&K beat Punjab by 23 runs


Srinagar, The all-round batting and bowling display by J&K threw one of the biggest surprises in domestic cricket by defeating star-studded Punjab by 23 runs in its last league match of the North Zone Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, New Delhi on Sunday.
Having defeated Haryana by four wickets on Saturday, J&K were hoping to end their campaign on a winning note. It happened exactly same way as they beat Punjab, having Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh, by 23 runs. Batting first J&K put up a solid batting performance as Ian Dev, Manzoor Dar (Pandav), Jatin Wadhwan and Bandeep Singh set a target of 164 runs to win for Punjab. In reply Punjab got off to a great start but with the introduction spinners balance changed in J&K’s way. Not only they did stop flow of runs but also kept on taking wickets at regular intervals. Waseem Raza ended match with four wicket haul while as Umar Nazir took two. Parvez, Pandav, Mudhasir and Manik chipped in with one wicket each.
