Three Hizb workers apprehended in Sopore: Police

Srinagar, May 30: Three workers of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit were apprehended in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, police said Monday.

SP Sopore, Harmeet Singh told GNS that the arrest of three Hizb men led to the busting of a ‘recruitment racket’ of the outfit. “On May 29, police Station Bomai reliably learnt that some youth including Liyaqat Ahmad Lone s/o Late Ghulam Mohudin Lone, Mohmad Shafi Bhat s/o Mohmad Sultan Bhat, both residents of Harwan and Tariq Ahmad Najar s/o Mohmad Sultan Najar r/o Badrahar Handwara are working for Hizb and are recruiting the youth of the area in the said organisation,” he said.

“During the course of investigation it was found that they were affiliated with banned millitant organization Hizb-ul-Mujahideen and were working for the revival and expansion of the banned outfit in the Kashmir valley, particularly in Baramulla district,” said SP.

He said following the reliable information and apprehended the trio and registered a case under FIR no. 45/2016 u/s 18B, 20 Unlawful Activities was registered.

Police claimed that these persons recently recruited one Umar Khaliq Mir s/o Abdul Khaliq Mir of Tujar Shareef Sopore in Hizb. Police said that the apprehended persons are being questioned and investigation is going on. (GNS)
