Trauma Hospital kangan faces shortage of doctors, patients suffer


Kangan, Dearth of doctors at trauma Hospital kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district is taking a heavy toll on the lives of patients in the area and forcing them to cover long distances for treatment.

The hospital caters to many villages of the kangan and Gund tehsils of the district Ganderbal and hundreds of patients visit every day in the Out Patient Department (OPD) of the hospital but shortage of doctors espically the pediatrician,orthopedic,
dental surgeons etc is impacting the patient care in the area.

The locals alleged that before few months Dr Akther Rasool was posted as pediatrician but before some days director health Kashmir transferred him from kangan hospital,we appeals Director health Kmr to revoke his transfer order and post him again in the hospital.
They further added that in absence of the required doctors in the hospital, they are forced to visit private clinics or other hospitals and spend huge amount of money for treatment.

“The non-availability of the specialist doctors and other staff in the hospital is taking a heavy toll on the patient care here. We are forced to take patients either to the Ganderbal hospital or Srinagar hospitals for simple checkups . We have to spend huge amount of money on private clinics as well”Mushtaq ,a resident

In this regard Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Ganderbal Dr Roshandeen Kassana while talking with our correspondent Saleem wani admitted the lack of doctors espically pediatrician in the hospital and said that efforts are on to post a replacement of pediatrician who was shifted recently from the hospital by DH kashmir and posting of other speacialists and staff…
