Srinagar, April 07: Two Hizbul Mujhaideen top commanders got killed in a brief gunfight with government forces in south Kashmir’s Shopian district Thursday morning.

As per sources the two Hizbul Mujahideen Commanders were killed in an encounter at Vihil village of the district. Police sources identified the slain militants as Naseer Ahmad Pandit S/O Ghulam Rasool Pandit R/O Kareemabad Pulwama and Wasim Ahmad Malla alias Rizwan S/O Mohammad Iqbal Pandit R/O Pahlipora Shopian.

Pertinently, Nasir Pandit, a former cop, had decamped with weapons from former Minister Altaf Bukhari’s residence in central Kashmir’s Srinagar district last year.

The duo was part of Hizb commander Burhan Wani’s group.

Meanwhile, the killings have prompted a complete shutdown in the districts of Shopian and Pulwama.

All shops and business establishments are closed in Pulwama and Shopian towns while public transport is off the roads, reports said.
