Youth drowns in Pond, locals stage protest in Lolab
NC MLC lashes out at Govt for failure to fish out the body
Srinagar, May 1 (GNS): A 19-year old youth on Tuesday drowned in a Pond at Sogam area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district while he was taking a bath.
According to GNS, Bilal Ahmad Rather, son of Ghulam Mohiuddin Rather, resident of Lassipora in Sogam drowned in a nearby pond while he was taking a bath.
Soon after the news about his drowning spread, hundreds of locals assembled at the spot while teams of police and local administration also rushed. Though the authorities started operation to retrieve the body of the deceased but their failure infuriated the locals and sparked off protests.
The locals staged anti-government protests and castigated authorities for not being able to retrieve the body even as the pond is not that much larger.
Local MLC, Qaiser Jamsheed Lone, also joined the protesters and lashed out at Government for its failure to fish out the body of the youth. (GNS)
