Youth’s killing in Kud: Stone pelting clashes, protests in Bemina
Srinagar, June 14: Stone pelting clashes erupted on Tuesday at Bemina in outskirt’s of Srinagar city against the killing of a in Kud shooting yesterday. The protesters including family members and relatives of the slain youth demanding his body.
“Tanveer Hussain was a militant until 2004 when he was arrested. Yesterday he was on way to Amritsar for medical checkup as he was a psychiatric patient,” family members of the youth said.
Witnesses said that youth took to streets demanding the body of the deceased who government said was a militant and died in an exchange of gunfire with police and paramilitary forces in Kud area of Udhampur district yesterday.
Police used teargas shells to disperse the protesters who were throwing rocks on them.
The clashes were going on at the time of filing of this report.
Earlier, in the morning, similar stone-throwing clashes erupted at Lawaypora and its adjacent areas in city outskirts after a motorcyclist was injured in a road mishap involving an army vehicle.
